Job Title: Postdoctoral Appointee – Physicist/Quantum Information Technologies
Position information:
We seek a Postdoctoral Appointee specializing in the theory of quantum computing and simulation, particularly in atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) implementations of quantum technologies. The successful candidate will be part of team developing new quantum computing and simulation protocols and algorithms. There will be opportunities to collaborate with experimentalists and theorists at Univ. of California, Berkeley as part of the project.
A background in the quantum computing and/or AMO theory is required. Previous exposure to machine learning, data science and associated fields is a significant advantage. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate technical leadership and publish outstanding new developments in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The ability to interact and collaborate with a diverse set of colleagues is a strong advantage in this position.
This postdoctoral position is a temporary position for up to one year, which may be renewed at Sandia’s discretion up to five additional years. The PhD must have been conferred within five years prior to employment.
Individuals in postdoctoral positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
