Postdoc in Quantum Information Theory at Sherbrooke

A postdoctoral position in quantum information theory is available in the group of Professor David Poulin in the Department of Physics at the University of Sherbrooke. The research focus is on fault-tolerant quantum computation, with a special emphasis on critical noise parameters that affect the failure probability of fault-tolerant protocols.

The project is funded by the US Army Research Office. The contract is for one year, with annual renewals possible for up to 3 years.

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Physics or a related field and will preferably have experience with the above research subjects.

The successful candidate will collaborate with scientists at Raytheon BBN Technologies (Boston, MA), at Sandia National Lab (Albuquerque, NM) and at the University of Oregon (Eugene, OR), and is expected to travel to those institutions occasionally.

The physics of quantum information team at the Université de Sherbrooke is composed of four faculty members, Alexandre Blais, Michel Pioro-Ladrière, David Poulin, and Bertrand Reulet whose research interests cover both theoretical and experimental aspects of quantum information science and mesoscopic physics. We offer an active and stimulating research environment, enhanced by strong local and international collaborations. More information can be found at http://epiq.physique.usherbrooke.ca. Interested candidates should provide a CV including a list of publications, a brief statement of research interests and should arrange for at least two letters of recommendations to be sent to: qip[dot]postdocs[at]usherbrooke[dot]ca. Applications and letters should be received by August 30th 2014, although later applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. The start dates are flexible. The successful candidates will be contacted for an interview.
