Title: PhD Studentships in Experimental Quantum Technologies
Stipend: £15,726 per annum plus fees for 4 years
Quantum technologies involve the control and manipulation of quantum states to achieve results not possible with classical matter; they promise a transformation of measurement, communication and computation. We are looking for outstanding postgraduate students to work on the experimental development of these technologies as part of their PhD work. Students will be able to chose from amongst the wide range of research in experimental quantum technologies at UCL, from solid state devices based on isotopically engineered silicon, carbon nanomaterials and III-V materials and novel semiconductors, to trapped atomic and molecular systems. The research projects will involve combinations of some or all of the following: nanofabrication, spintronics, atomic and laser physics, quantum transport, low temperature physics, photonics and more, and there will be opportunities for research visits to national and international collaborators, in both academia and industry.
The start date of the studentships will be in September 2014.
