A great opportunity to work with Howard Wiseman in Australia:
Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Quantum Information Theory)
Department: Centre for Quantum Dynamics
Work type: Fixed Term (2 years, with the possibility of extension)Overview:
The Centre for Quantum Dynamics seeks a person with a strong track record in quantum information theory or a related area. The Centre’s research in quantum physics was given the highest possible rating by the Australian Government in 2010. In quantum information science, it has had several papers in Nature and Nature suite journals in the last four years, both experimental and theoretical. It is a Node in the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Quantum Computation and Communication Technology (CQC2T). The successful candidate will play a key research role in the Quantum Information Theory Program led by Prof. Howard Wiseman in CQC2T.The role:
The successful candidate will perform theoretical research addressing one or more of the goals of the Quantum Information Theory Program led by Prof. Howard Wiseman in CQC2T. These include: (1) architectures and physical modelling for methods of long-distance entanglement distribution; (2) measurement and control schemes from an informational perspective; (3) medium-scale quantum computer algorithms and their implementation; (4) fundamental quantum information theory and protocols. The appointee will be expected to undertake both collaborative and independent research, to assist in supervising PhD students, write manuscripts for publication in scientific journals, and contribute to the overall management of the project. For more background information, see http://www.ict.griffith.edu.au/wiseman/ and if you have any queries, contact Professor Howard Wiseman atThe person:
The candidate must have a PhD or postdoctoral experience in quantum information theory or a related field such as quantum optics or quantum control, with a strong record of publication in this area. He or she must have demonstrated ability to compose scientific papers for publication in international journals, have good interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The position is offered at Research Fellow level 1 or 2 (depending on experience).
