Physics World Article

For subscribers to Physics World, an article I wrote The Race to Build a Quantum Computer has appeared in the February edition. Unfortunately unless you have a subscription you’ll have to pay to read the article…or better yet, pick up a copy of the magazine!

  1. hmm… I don’t really see theorists racing to physically build anything in the lab. Whether it’s a quantum computer or anything else. Pretty poor choice for a title given that the article focuses on Kitaev who’s a theorist. Also, traditional quantum computation has had a lot more experimental results than topological quantum computation which hasn’t really had any so far. If there’s a race, it’s certainly among experimentalists in solid-state and ion trap communities. I can tell you that that race is definitely on and it’s quite intense, fast paced and a lot of fun and would definitely catch public interest if presented properly. So, if you’re looking to shore up public interest in the Race To Build A Quantum Computer it would be more effective to write about people who are involved in the real thing and not some BS fluff. It only damages the community as a whole.
