The latest issue of the newsletter of the APS topical group on Quantum Information, the Quantum Times, is now available. Of particular note is the long article summarizing the Workshop on Quantum Information Science.
Hmmmm … that report had a wide lacuna … namely it discussed “quantum simulation” in a single context: simulation with quantum computers.
This is needlessly narrow … QIS/QIT has plenty to do with the parallel discipline of simulating quantum systems with classical resources.
Why was this aspect of QIS/QIT not discussed at the meeting?
Because when it comes to creating new technologies, new industries, and new jobs, there is a lively revolution going on already in QIS/QIT simulation with classical resources.
