Okay, we will officially call this week “D-wave week.” According to an article here (update: for a link that may work for all browsers, see here), D-wave just secured another round of financing, to the tune of $14,000,000.
O brave new quantum world!

All I get when I follow the link is

Not your fault, I know, but was there anything else of interest in the article?
(Grumble, browser-specific web pages…not too dissimilar to my experience with academic, but at least that had humor value…)
“D-Wave has developed technology and owns or has exclusive rights to more than 90 patents and patent applications worldwide, including 38 issued U.S. patents, covering basic devices, processor architectures and applications.”
Do you know any details of what kinds of things they are patenting?
Lots of patents can be found for D-wave by searching for “d-wave” and “quantum” on the U.S. patent search engine (i.e. http://patft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.htm&r=0&f=S&l=50&d=PTXT&RS=D-wave&Refine=Refine+Search&Query=D-wave+AND+quantum)
Wow! I’m really impressed.
This is surely a good sign for the company.

It seems there really is a lot of progress recently 😎
Wolfgang, I don’t get your sense of humor 🙂
