In anticipation of my move to Seattle, I began the joyous task of packing. Here is a picture of some of my packed boxes.
Know what’s in all of them? Books. Twenty six boxes of books. Plus probably another three or four boxes at work. I guess that’s what I get for being a literature and physics major, eh?
Heh heh. And you thought being a Renaissance man was all fun, money, and hot chicks! I had the same problem moving from LANL to Pasadena. In case you were wondering, getting married to another book person doesn’t help at all. This can be taken to extremes, too… ask Ben Schumacher about the Griggses (I hate trying to pluralize names that end in S) some time.
Did I mention that I will be out of town the weekend you are moving in? 🙂 Good luck getting all those boxes of books up your four flight of stairs!
I remember the class, but I didn’t get to take it. I did take an English literature class from Prof. Sutherland where we read “Midnight’s Children” and I learned that I knew nothing about the political history of India.
You were a lit major? Did you ever take “Offensive Literature” with Prof. Sutherland (if I remember his name correctly), who was visiting from London? The class had a reading list including “The Satanic Verses,” “Naked Lunch,” “Maurice,” “The Well of Loneliness,” “Last Exit to Brooklyn,” “A Clockwork Orange,” and “Lolita.” (I still know the names of most of the books because I still have them with me.) It was an awesome class.
