This position is supported by the Computer &amp; Information Science &amp; Engineering (CISE) Division of the NSF. It assumes tight and intensive collaboration with the Quantum Information Group at NEC Laboratories America in Princeton (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nec-labs.com\/research\/quantum\/quantum-website\">http:\/\/www.nec-labs.com\/research\/quantum\/quantum-website<\/a>), in particular with Dr. J\u00e9r\u00e9mie Roland and Dr. Martin Roetteler. The research project is at the interface between Computer Science and Quantum Physics. The target area includes (but is not limited to) the theory of Adiabatic Quantum Optimization.<\/p>\n<p>Experience with basic principles of Quantum Information Theory as well as Computational Complexity Theory will be essential.  Familiarity with the foundations of Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Statistical Mechanics will be useful and well appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>Interested applicants should send an email with their resume to bla@phys.columbia.edu  and  jroland@nec-labs.com  with reference &#8220;Adiabatic QC&#8221; in the subject line.
