The candidate must be a U.S. citizen with a Ph.D. in condensed matter theory or a related field, and should have a background in quantum information. The project involves the development of new and scalable semiconductor architectures for quantum computation.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Wisconsin has a strong theoretical program in applied quantum computation. Postdocs are encouraged to interact closely with experimental qubit programs in silicon quantum dots ( <a href=\"http:\/\/qc.physics.wisc.edu\/silicon.html\">http:\/\/qc.physics.wisc.edu\/silicon.html<\/a> ), as well as Josephson junctions ( <a href=\"http:\/\/home.physics.wisc.edu\/~rfmcdermott\">http:\/\/home.physics.wisc.edu\/~rfmcdermott<\/a> ) and neutral atoms ( <a href=\"http:\/\/hexagon.physics.wisc.edu\">http:\/\/hexagon.physics.wisc.edu<\/a> ). The project is in collaboration with the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lps.umd.edu\"> http:\/\/www.lps.umd.edu<\/a> ), on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park.<\/p>\n<p>The fellowship position is for two years, with a possible extension to three years.
