{"id":3628,"date":"2010-07-14T10:14:03","date_gmt":"2010-07-14T17:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dabacon.org\/pontiff\/?p=3628"},"modified":"2010-07-14T10:14:03","modified_gmt":"2010-07-14T17:14:03","slug":"more-fun-with-the-arxiv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dabacon.org\/pontiff\/2010\/07\/14\/more-fun-with-the-arxiv\/","title":{"rendered":"More Fun with the arXiv"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Did you know that there is author known as <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/hep-ph\/9511312\">26 pages<\/a>?\u00a0 Or, meet author <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/hep-lat\/9207008\">A<\/a>.\u00a0 Or <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/solv-int\/9909014\">D and B<\/a>.\u00a0 Do you think <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/find\/hep-th\/1\/au:+Latex\/0\/1\/0\/all\/0\/1\">LaTeX<\/a> is a first name or a last name?\u00a0 Author Development Center, Japan, and 210 all appear in <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/cmp-lg\/9411023\">one paper<\/a>.<br \/>\nAmong abstracts, there are some fun ones, including verses from the Bible (<a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/0912.1053\">arXiv:0912.1053<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;And should I not take pity on Nineveh, that great city, with more than a hundred and twenty thousand inhabitants who do not know their right hand  from their left, and many beasts besides?&#8221; [Jonah 4:11]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/astro-ph\/0612388\">Here<\/a> is an abstract which contains optional and mandatory headings.<br \/>\nTitles?\u00a0 Well <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/hep-th\/0211152\">Holey Sheet<\/a>!\u00a0 I did know that <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/hep-th\/9908205\">6+4=10<\/a>, but am not sure what to do with the fraction <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/0906.0965\">27\/32<\/a>, even though I know one of the authors.\u00a0 Among my favorite titles is &#8220;Is topological Skyrme Model consistent with the <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/hep-ph\/9902246\">Satandard<\/a> Model?&#8221;<br \/>\nI also enjoy the comments where they admit the paper wasn&#8217;t so good: <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/cs\/0208018v2\">&#8220;withdrawn. It was a rediculously stupid notion&#8221;<\/a>.<br \/>\nSome papers also tread in directions I never would have considered.\u00a0 For example, <a href=\"http:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1004.2003v2\">The Socceral Force<\/a> is about a strange dream and describes a little known markup language, Footballer and Football Simulation Markup Language or FerSML.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did you know that there is author known as 26 pages?\u00a0 Or, meet author A.\u00a0 Or D and B.\u00a0 Do you think LaTeX is a first name or a last name?\u00a0 Author Development Center, Japan, and 210 all appear in one paper.
