Gamma Watch

Just what every physicists has dreamt of: a watch with a Geiger counter in it! Of course, you can tell it is for physicists as well by the lack of style!

  1. I don’t think lack of style is the only giveaway: the specifications note that for proper use you should calibrate the digital watch by measuring how fast it runs over the course of a week. The difference can then be input into the watch for “more accurate timekeeping”. Meanwhile, the analog watch is supposed to be spot on. Makes me wonder why the whole thing isn’t just radio controlled from the beginning. If you’re going to go geek, why go half-assed? btw, it’s clear that radio-controlled clocks are popular here in Germany, since the bells of different churches often start ringing at exactly the same instant.

  2. I have been trying to figure out what to get you for your 30th – which I know was in May but I’m still waiting for inspiration. Maybe this is it?
