The Eyes of Nye

I just caught an episode of the new PBS show “The Eyes of Nye,” which is Bill Nye “the Science Guy”‘s latest show. Of course I’m a sucker for cheesy science shows, but the episode I just saw on pseudoscience had me rolling on the floor. Mostly this was because at one point Bill suggested that the reason rhinoceroses’ horns have been ground up for years and used as an ancient form of Viagra was….was, well, the shape of the rhino’s horn. I guess I’d never really thought about it that way.

    Earth to Zebulon!
Your 5/18/2005 post gives me pause tonight. While I prepare to record Eyes of Nye here in CA., I hope your ‘luck’ has changed? As a newspaper addict, I lucked onto an article yesterday in the OC Register that allowed me to set up for recording Nye’s “Pseudoscience’.
I hope to use the episode in class after previewing the content. Of course I should be finding this sort of programming via the WWW (which I do) but this time it was the good ole window busting paper that got me there.
Has PBS provided you access by now? I hope so, especially if you are an educator like me. Watch out for those Rhino horn tales!
