Fire

Devastating losses as fire ravaged the Methow this last week. It’s hard to find words to describe this event, the tragedy, the amazing power of the fire, and most importantly the way the community has leaned on each other through such difficult times. On Thursday I snapped this picture from our place, when this portion of the fire was still just the “Cougar Flats” fire and had not merged into the firestorm that became the Carlton Complex.14 - 1

Fourth of July Trip

Patio is staked out, pouring was happening this week (slowed by it being absolutely scorching).

Country Living

Hazards of the country life. Poison oak:

I’ve only found a small patch, but still not going to be fun removing it.

Rattlensnake caught by our builder:
rattler in a bucket
Excavator, whose family homesteaded the land, says not many rattlers around our land, but his grandpa used to dynamite a den of them the next ridge over. Also grandma used to shoot them with a shotgun.
